You do not need to make an appointment at McGovern Allergy to receive your shot. Come in during allergy shot hours (Monday through Friday 8:30 AM-5:00 PM, and Saturday from 8:30 AM-10:30 AM), weekly for about six to nine months (build-up phase), then once a month thereafter (maintenance phase). Getting an allergy shot only takes a few minutes, but for your safety, you are required to stay in the clinic for 30 minutes to be monitored for adverse reactions. Adverse reactions may include itchiness, redness, or swelling at the injection site, but these reactions should not be bothersome and subside within 24 hours.
