History of McGovern Allergy and Asthma Clinic
Dr. John P. McGovern came to Houston from Tulane University School of Medicine where he was an associate professor of pediatrics. He assumed the practice of the late Dr. Ralph Bowen in March of 1956 and started a training program for allergy and immunology at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital.
The private practice grew rapidly and added other allergy-trained physicians. Patients were from Houston and other states and also from foreign countries. Patients are frequently referred by their primary physician or by word of mouth.
